JEE Main 2019: Application Form, Admit Card, Exam Date, Syllabus, Pattern

JEE Main II 2019 application form is about to release, all the applicants who have not applied for JEE Main I can apply for the April 2019 exam. Here in this post, you will get detailed information about JEE Main 2019 Entrance Exam.

Ever since 1960 IIT-JEE now known as JEE has been the most awaited exam of the year in India. Since then many changes have taken place in the exam pattern and every year it is revised. Here’s an insight of everything you need to know about JEE Mains 2019.

ABOUT THE EXAM

Joint Entrance Examination abbreviated as JEE, is a two phase national examination for undergraduate category i.e. JEE Mains and JEE Advance. It is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). JEE Mains is held to take admission in B’Tech/B’Arch in 31 NITs, 20 IIITs and 18 CFTIs across the country. It will conduct two papers- paper 1 (for B.E./B’Tech) and paper 2 (for B’Arch/ B’planning). Candidates can either opt for paper 1 or paper 2 or for both. It is also a qualifying exam to appear in the 2nd phase i.e. JEE Advance. This phase let aspirants seek admission in the elite campuses of IITs. JEE Main 2019 will be conducted in both online and offline mode and the application forms will be made available by the 8th of February 2019 till 7th March 2019.

SOME IMPORTANT NOTICES

  • All candidates must possess AADHAAR card issued by UIDAI with them.
  • 2, 20,000 candidates will be eligible to take JEE Advance 2019 which is 70,000 more than the previous year number.
  • Applicants should have their personal contact number and email id.
  • Board exam results will not be taken into account in considering JEE Mains 2019 ranks. The All India Ranks will be based on the JEE Mains 2019 marks only.
  • However, a minimum of 75% for General category and 65% for SC/ST in class 12th or to be in top 20 percentile is necessary to be eligible for qualifying admission into NITs, IIITs and CFTIs.

GUIDELINES FOR THE EXAM

  • Candidates should download the admit card from the official website of JEE Main 2019.
  • They should keep checking the official website as new announcements will be updated frequently regarding the exam.
  • Admit card will only be made available to those candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria.
  • Candidates must carry their admit cards with them to the examination hall.
  • They also have to provide a copy of documents to the invigilator.
  • Students are required to reach the examination hall 30 minutes before the examination.
  • No electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, watches, calculators are allowed in the examination hall.
  • If found with any such devices the student’s examination will be canceled and he/she will be debarred, also the equipment will be seized.
  • Those candidates who have opted for Paper 2 should bring their own pencils, erasers, crayons, colour pencils and geometry boxes.
  • Candidates will not be allowed to leave his or her seat before the completion of the exam duration i.e. 3 hours.

Before you apply for the exam let’s look over the eligibility criteria-

ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA

  • For General category a candidate have to be of 25 years of age or less on 1st October of the year of admission to be eligible to apply for the exam.
  • Schedule Tribe (ST), Schedule Caste (SC) and People with disability (PWD) candidates have a relaxation of 5 years as they need to be of 30 years of age on or before 1st October of the year of admission.

  • One gets only three attempts to be eligible to appear in the examination.

[Eligibility criteria] – JEE Main 2019 (Joint Entrance Examination) is a two phase national examination for undergraduate category i.e. JEE Mains and JEE Advance. It is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) that also sets up its eligibility criteria. Normally JEE eligibility criteria revolves around age, no. of subjects, no. of attempts, percentage but this year it has added a new point i.e. availability of AADHAAR Card. It is necessary for candidates to fill their AADHAAR card number to apply for JEE Main 2019. Let’s have a look at the eligibility criteria in detail-

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

AGE LIMIT             For General category a candidate have to be of 25 years of age or less on 1st October of the year of admission to be eligible to apply for the exam.

Schedule Tribe (ST), Schedule Caste (SC) and People with disability (PWD) candidates have a relaxation of 5 years as they need to be of 30 years of age on or before 1st October of the year of admission.

 

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION             Only those candidates who have passed their class 12th or an equivalent exam in 2017 and those who are appearing in 2018 are eligible to appear in JEE Mains 2019.

Board exam results will not be taken into account in considering JEE Mains 2019 All India ranks.

However, a minimum of 75% for General category and 65% for SC/ST in class 12th or to be in top 20 percentile is necessary to be eligible for qualifying admission into NITs, IIITs and CFTIs.

 

 

NUMBER OF SUBJECTS             A minimum of five subjects in his/her 12th examination.

Including PCM

Subjects for B.Tech/B.E. are – Language, Physics, Mathematics, any one of these (Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Technical vocational subject) and any other subject.

STATE ELIGIBILITY CODE –

State eligibility code is the code of the state from which the candidate has passed 12th class or equivalent exam.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  • Go through the information bulletin of JEE Main 2019 from its website (www.jeemain.nic.in).
  • Application form filling process starts from 8th February 2019.
  • It will end on 7th March 2019.
  • To apply, first you need to register and set a password for your account.
  • Your password must have 8-13 characters and should include a capital letter, a small case letter, a special character and a number.
  • Make sure you have all the required documents, scanned images, signature, left hand thumb impression and your AADHAAR card (issued by UIDAI) ready with you before you apply.
  • Fill the form carefully, enter your AADHAAR card number, name, date of birth, gender and upload all scanned images and submit.
  • Pay the exam fee by debit/credit card or by e-challan.
  • Download the application slip.

Note-

  • The application forms will be made available by the 8th of February 2019.
  • You can submit the application form only once. More than one entry will lead to rejection.
  • Online process is the only mode through which you can fill your application form.
  • Applicants must have their AADHAAR card issued by UIDAI to fill the application form.
  • Applicants should make sure that their school records and details in their AADHAAR card match. In case of any mismatch they should immediately get it corrected.
  • Submit the application form and pay the exam fee before the last date of submission. No further entry will be entertained. (8th March 2019).
  • A correction window will open for one week in the second half of January for any corrections in application forms.
  • There will be no corrections made after the closing of the correction window.

Note-

  • The image of all the scanned documents should be in JPG/JPEG format
  • Applicants should have a valid contact number and email id
  • Dimensions of passport size image- (3.5cm x 4.5cm)
  • Dimensions of signature image- (3.5cm x 1.5cm)
  • Dimensions of thumb impression- (3.5cm x 1.5cm)
  • Size of the passport size photograph- between 10kb – 40kb
  • Size of signature image- 10kb – 30kb
  • Size of thumb impression image- 1kb – 30kb
  • Signature should be done on a white paper

JEE Main 2019: ADMIT CARD

  • JEE Main 2019 admit card will be made available by the third week of March.
  • Candidates can download it from JEE Main official website
  • Candidates would have to provide their roll no. and class 12th /equivalent exam details.
  • In case of any error in the admit card the candidate should immediately contact JEE Main Secretariat.
  • Students must carry their admit card with them in the examination hall.

ANSWER KEY

  • It will be made available by the third week of July, 2019 (tentative).
  • Candidates can cross check their answers by the answer sheet.
  • The answer sheet will be available on the JEE Main official website.
  • Candidates can also challenge the answer key.
  • To challenge the answer key the student have to login in his/her JEE Main account, enter application number, DOB and security pin.
  • A fee of Rs1000 will be charged for challenging every question which could be paid through credit card/ debit card or e-challan.
  • The fee is non-refundable.

RESULT

  • JEE Main 2019 result will be declared on 30th April 2019(tentative).
  • The result will be available on JEE Main website.
  • It will also list the names of students who have qualified to appear for JEE Advanced.
  • The All India Ranks will be based on the JEE Mains 2019 marks only.
  • However, a minimum of 75% for General category and 65% for SC/ST in class 12th or to be in top 20 percentile is necessary to be eligible for qualifying admission into NITs, IIITs and CFTIs.
  • All India Ranks will be announced by the fourth week of June, 2019 (tentative).

CUTOFF

  • A cutoff is the minimum score required to qualify an exam
  • CBSE set cutoff for JEE Main examination.
  • There are different cutoff set for different categories such as General, Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and other backward classes.
  • Difficulty level, number of students appearing all these factors decides on the cutoff of JEE Main.

COUNSELING SCHEDULE

  • JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) handle the counseling schedule.
  • JEE Main counseling will start by the first week of July, 2019 (tentatively).
  • Candidates are called upon according to their ranks.
